3 Things To Do Before Your Paid Acquisition Campaign

So many organizations run a paid acquisition campaign. But so few prepare properly to fully leverage their investment. Here are 3 things you should do BEFORE spending one dollar on paid acquisition, whether it’s Civic Shout, Care2, Facebook or other online ads.


  1. Create a customized, automated welcome series that your new volunteers will receive upon being added to your list. This might only require a minor refresh to your existing welcome series.


  1. Have at least two more actions planned on the same issue you promoted in your advertising. It’s vital to re-engage these new advocates very quickly on the issue you already know they’re passionate about.


  1. Synch your system with the paid acquisition provider so new advocates immediately enter your system. That will ensure your welcome series launches the day after they complete that initial action.


BONUS: Yes, you can move these new advocates into other campaigns, but it must be done deliberately and in a way that clearly connects the new issue with the issue you know they care about.


Many organizations are surprised that so few acquired advocates take a second or third action. With good planning and highly relevant communications, you can break that trend and maximize the investment you’re making in these acquisition campaigns.
