Here are 4 things advocacy teams must do by January 6th – the day Congress returns from its holiday break. (But they can’t be done the day before, so you want to start now.)
❄️ Refresh your welcome series
A lot has likely changed since you created the last version of your welcome series. Be sure your content is updated and relevant to the current political and legislative environments.
❄️ Launch a re-engagement series
Even the best organizations lose volunteers throughout the year. Launch a three-part email re-engagement series offering volunteers the opportunity to show continued interest in your advocacy work before removing them from your list.
❄️ Clean up your email list
Emailing large groups of inactive volunteers can result in your messages landing in spam folders rather than inboxes. After completing your re-engagement series (see above), unsubscribe or remove inactive volunteers from your email list.
❄️ Conduct a comprehensive email audit
The best way to optimize your email program and drive the maximum number of actions is to have a clear understanding of what’s working and what’s not. A comprehensive email audit answers important questions like: what types of subject lines work best, are we sending too many emails, and do buttons and images improve our action-taking rate.
If you have questions about any of the above or need help executing them, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ve conducted this work for many clients and would be happy to support you.
